How E-Learning Can Save the Environment

Many students are now getting enrolled in online courses because of the convenience, flexibility, and reduced cost. Various organisations also conduct online training for their employees. Online education not only benefits the students but also the environment in many ways. Here, we are going to look at how it helps to save our environment.

Reduced consumption of gas

When students come to the campus by car, bike, or bus, a lot of fuel is consumed by waiting in the traffic and speeding. In the case of online education, students don’t need to travel, so there is less fuel consumption.

Less pollution

As the students don’t need to go to the campus to do the online courses, they don’t contribute to the emission of carbon dioxide. So, there is less air pollution. In campus-based courses, the students and teachers need to use papers and these papers eventually end up in landfills causing pollution.

In the case of online learning, less paper is used as the students can read the study materials online. Also, less use of paper means fewer trees will be cut down.

Less use of natural resources

Huge amounts of power and heat are needed to run classrooms. Electricity is used up to keep the fan and air-conditioning system going. It also creates CO2, which is harmful to the environment. Online education consumes much less energy compared to the traditional classroom.

So, by enrolling in online courses the students can contribute positively to the environment. They can also save money on their education and learn at their own pace. Online courses give students a better environment for learning.

So, colleges and universities must have more online course options. This will allow students to get enrolled in those and help to save the environment.
